Baumhart Hall is located on Loyola's Water Tower Campus, in a beautiful neighborhood right in downtown Chicago. The beaches of Lake Michigan are within easy walking distance, as are numerous shops and restaurants.
The health, safety and security of each student is our primary concern. Entry to Baumhart Hall is restricted to residents and authorized guests only. Guests of residents must present proper photo-identification in the lobby and be escorted by the residents at all times. Security staff will be on-site at all times. Additional security is provided by camera and foot surveillance. The building is also fully equipped with sprinklers, the most modern fire and life safety systems and meets the City of Chicago student housing building codes and regulations.
Doctor appointments are arranged with the Loyola University Student Health Services. For 24 hour/emergency care, students are taken to Northwestern Memorial hospital. Discovery Internships staff make all medical appointments, transport and accompany students to medical facilities, obtain prescription medications and notify parents after medical visits. Discovery Internship resident counselors live in the same secure residence hall as the students. For additional safety, there are daily/nightly sign-ins and room checks. In keeping with a collegiate atmosphere, students are permitted to walk on campus and in our “home area” of Chicago, but are required to be in small groups.
